Add a Distributed Media Engine (DME) Video Stream
DMEs may be designated as streaming devices on the network where content may be distributed and viewed. Presentation Profiles and Zones may use these defined streams. Video streams on a DME may be set up manually or dynamically by the DME itself. Both methods are described below.

Note: An RTSP unicast stream is required for recording live Webcasts in Rev. Make sure that your stream has a keyframe interval between 2 to 5 seconds and do not use B-frames. Please see your individual Encoder (stream source) documentation for setting information.
Add a DME Video Stream Manually
The Advanced tab under Video Streams is used to create your own manual stream.

*To add a manual DME video stream:
1. Navigate to Admin > Devices > DME Management > Add DME button.
2. Add a DME device as you normally would. See Add a Distributed Media Engine (DME).
3. Click the Advanced tab in the Video Streams section.
Field Name
Required
Description
Name
Yes
A name for your video stream.
URL
Yes
The URL of your video stream. Copy your created URLs to this field.
Encoding Type
Yes
The encoding type that will be used; select from the drop-down menu.
Is Multicast

Select if your video will be multicast.

Add a DME Video Stream Dynamically
The Create URLs tab under Video Streams is used to create your own dynamic stream playback URLs in Rev so that you do not have to create them manually and then copy them to Rev as described above. Note that creating a dynamic stream works with DME v3.4 and above only. If you do not have v3.4 or above, you must create a manual video stream.

*To add a dynamic URL DME video stream:
1. Navigate to Admin > Devices > DME Management > Add DME button.
2. Add a DME device as you normally would. See Add a Distributed Media Engine (DME).
3. Click the Create URLs tab > Add URL button in the Video Streams section.
Field Name
Required
Description
Name
Yes
A value representing the stream name. The stream name must be unique within the DME that you are currently adding. If you are setting up several DMEs to distribute the same stream, consider using the same stream name across DMEs so that you can easily trace the stream across multiple DMEs. Stream names must be alphanumeric and contain no spaces. Stream names are not case sensitive.
Enable Vbrick Multicast

Select if you want to enable Vbrick multicast streams. You must have DME software 3.18 or greater before this may be configured.
Once selected, enter the following to automatically configure Vbrick multicast streams:
Multicast IP Address: (required) Must between 224.0.0.0 and 239.255.255.255
Multicast Port: Default is 4444
Packet Size: (entry 1000 to 8192) in Bytes, default: 4096
Please note that the IP Address and Port cannot be duplicated across multiple streams
HLS streaming options are independent of Vbrick multicast streams
If the IP Address, Port, or Packet Size values fail, Rev will display a configuration failure message and will request that you edit the values again
Enable HLS

Select if you want to create an HLS stream. This is required for mobile devices. The default is no.
Add HLS Akamai Publishing Point

You must have the HLS checkbox enabled before this becomes visible and you must have DME software 3.17 or higher before this can be configured.
Once selected, enter the following to automatically configure an Akamai HLS Publishing Point (obtained from Vbrick Operations):
Akamai Post Host Name (required)
Akamai Playback Host Name (required)
Akamai Stream ID (required, numeric only)
Akamai Shared Auth Key (not required if encryption is not desired)
When the DME is saved or updated, the following will occur:
An RTMP (Flash) stream will be created and enabled using the provided stream name.
An RTSP stream will be created and enabled using the provided stream name.
If Vbrick Multicast was enabled, a Multicast stream with -VBM appended will be created.
If HLS was enabled, an HLS stream will be created and enabled using the stream name.
If an Akamai Publishing Point was created, the Akamai HLS stream will be visible and using your stream name.

Note: If for any reason one or more of the URLs cannot be created, none of the URLs will be created and an error message will be displayed.
If you have previous publishing points and want to add Akamai publishing points, you will need to delete them and recreate them to add the Akamai streams.
Presentation Profiles and Zones list the different available streams created as well. Including the Akamai streams created with the Akamai logo and Vbrick Multicast streams with the Vbrick logo if applicable.

Note: Some set up is required before you may create live streams in Rev. A quick setup guide that steps you through the entire process is located in the Rev Supplementary Documentation section titled: Streaming Live Video to Rev Webcasts.
