Rev License Types and Add-On Components
When your Rev portal is initially configured, a based or based license type is purchased and applied depending upon your organizational needs. Additional licensing and add-on components may also be purchased and added to either type license.
Note: Rev Cloud licenses are managed and applied by Vbrick. However, you may manage your own Child Account. |
Keep in mind:
●User based license: Viewing and recording is dictated by the number of user accounts purchased. All guest/external viewing (non-Rev accounts) is dictated by the number of add-on hours purchased for guest viewing.
●Hours based license: All viewing and recording (Rev and guest accounts) is dictated solely by the number of hours purchased.
The table below further illustrates the feature differences between license types.

Licensed Add-On Components
Once a license type is purchased, you may also select additional add-on license components. They may be added to either type of license, User or Hours-based, as requested. These are required for certain functions in Rev..
Component | Description |
Viewing Hours | Add-on viewing hours; Normally purchased for additional guest viewing on User-based licenses. |
Rev Connect Peer Meshes | Used to specify the Peer Mesh Allotment (Child Accounts only for Rev Cloud) and add Rev Connect enabled zones to Rev. See: |
Rev AI Hours | Used to allocate Rev IQ Credits and enable Facial Recognition functionality in Rev. |
Keep in mind:
●The Admin Dashboard will keep track of hours and users allotted and used.
●VOD viewing hours are rounded to the nearest hour. Each viewing session is tracked from internal (Rev user accounts) and public users so that totals for both can be tracked.
●When no more VOD viewing hours are available on a based account, external users will be displayed a message that the video is temporarily unavailable. Internal users (Rev user accounts) will still be able to view the video.
●When no more VOD viewing hours are available on an based account, no video will be able to be played for either internal (Rev user accounts) or external users.
●Webcast viewing is only calculated once the event is concluded; therefore, if your account has one hour left, you may still start your Webcast with no issues if you plan you have external viewers attend.
●Email notifications will be sent to account Admins when an account has reached 75% and 100% usage of its allotted viewing hours for both and based accounts.
●When an account is switched from based to based, Rev will switch all users in status to status.
Caution: While documentation will always attempt to remain up-to-date, you should always check with your Account Manager before making any major licensing decisions or purchases. |
Role(s): ●Parent Account Admin to modify and apply license. ●Child Account Admin to view user account and hours remaining. |
