Acme Nova Partners, LLC - Managing Partner
Paul Sparta currently serves as Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors for VBrick and Managing Partner of Acme Nova Partners. Prior to VBrick, Sparta was Chief Integration Officer for SuccessFactors (acquired by SAP) a public company that provides Cloud-based enterprise HR software. Previously, he was Chairman and CEO of Plateau Systems, a provider of SaaS HR and Learning software that was acquired by SuccessFactors. Sparta has an extensive background in technology consulting and software. He is a US Navy veteran; he earned a BS from Southern Illinois University as well as an MA in Slavic and East European Studies from Florida State University.
Peter Chun
Morgan Stanley Venture Partners
Pete Chung, a Managing Member of Morgan Stanley Venture Partners funds with a focus on technology investments, joined Morgan Stanley in 1993 in the Technology Corporate Finance Department and helped open Morgan Stanley’s first Silicon Valley office in Menlo Park in 1994. In addition to his service at VBrick, Mr. Chung currently serves as a Director of Core Security, iRise, Plateau Systems and Sendmail. Over his career, Mr. Chung has been involved in over 30 investments on behalf of Morgan Stanley with his current and prior portfolio responsibilities including companies such as Avamar, Perceptive Software, Zappos,Socialware, iRise, Core Security and Plateau Systems.
William A. Frezza
Adams Capital Management - General Partner
Bill Frezza joined Adams Capital Management in 1997 as a General Partner after a twenty year career in the telecom and semiconductor industries. Prior to joining Adams he was Founder and President of Wireless Computing Associates, providing technology and strategic consulting services to leading industry vendors. Mr. Frezza also served as the Director of Marketing and Business Development for Ericsson, Inc.'s wireless data division and has extensive engineering and product management experience from General Instrument Corp. and Bell Laboratories. He has been involved in several start-up ventures, holds seven patents, was a regular columnist for Network Computing Magazine and InternetWeek, and served as a Director of the Materials Research Society (MRS). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of AmberWave Systems, BioLeap, LiquidPiston, and Optellios.
Richard L. Harris
RedShift Ventures - General Partner & Founder
Richard Harris led the creation of RedShift Ventures in 2006 and serves on the Board of Directors of several RedShift portfolio companies including Nextreme Thermal Solutions, Novariant, TerraGo, and VBrick. He has also worked with a number of successful technology companies including Cronos Integrated Microsystems (acquired by JDS Uniphase), MDLinx (acquired by a division of Sony), Woodwind Communications (acquired by Vina Technologies) and Telarix (acquired by Brown Brothers Harriman).
An active member of the mid-Atlantic entrepreneurial community, Mr. Harris currently serves on the advisory boards of the University of Maryland's Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship and MTECH Ventures. He is a former board member of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA), and a founder and past Chairman of the Young Atlantic Venture Association. Rich is a frequent lecturer at University of Maryland , where he was formerly a Clinical Professor for the R.H. Smith School of Business.
Shelly Heiden
VBrick Systems - CEO
Shelly Heiden has over 15 years of experience in customer-facing organizations including roles in executive leadership, sales, marketing, business development, service, and support. As VBrick’s Chief Executive Officer, Shelly is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the company.
Prior to VBrick, Shelly served as Executive Vice President of Global Operations for Plateau Systems where she was responsible for all customer-facing organizations worldwide, including sales, marketing, service and support. At Plateau, she managed the company’s acquisition by SuccessFactors/SAP. Post acquisition, she stayed on as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Professional Services and a member of the SAP Global Executive Team.
Shelly began her professional career with GE Capital Consulting as a Managing Director delivering IT staffing and technology solutions. From there she was promoted to Vice President of the Industry Solutions Group (after GE Capital Consulting was acquired by PSInet, Inc.).
Brian Murphy

As President and COO of VBrick, Brian Murphy brings over 25 years of experience in operational oversight, financial management, strategic planning and development as well as executive leadership roles in software/SaaS organizations. Prior to VBrick, Brian spent twelve years as President & Chief Operating Officer of Plateau Systems. Brian realized a highly successful acquisition of the company by SuccessFactors (acquired by SAP). Prior to Plateau he founded and served as CEO of Sensory Computer; a firm specializing in content development and management of integrated, enterprise-wide, e-learning solutions.
Brian started his professional career in finance, serving as Vice President and Chief Cross Currency trader at JP Morgan. Later, Brian served as First Vice President and Treasurer of the New York office of BSI, a private Swiss investment house, where he led the capital markets group. Regardless of the industry, Brian’s career experience displays a proven ability to create an organizational vision, mission, and strategic business model; he is focused on operational execution, ensuring that the people, processes and financials are in-place to drive results.
Brian has an MBA in Finance from Columbia Business School as well as an Ed.D in Education Administration and a BA in East Asian Studies from Columbia University.
